Coping with the Loss of a Pet

The loss of a pet is extremely painful. Our pets are our family and the grief we feel is very real.

Many people who lose a pet may experience disenfranchised grief: grief that is not recognized as legitimate by the larger society.

If you know someone who has lost a pet, it is important to acknowledge their pain. Send them a card, give them a hug, show them your love. For more information on coping with the loss of a pet, visit the Humane Society website: https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/coping-death-your-pet
